About Us

In the past couple decades we had the opportunity of taking part of some of the most important developments of the tech industry in Brazil. From within UFMG we helped build Miner and Akwan, and continued our journey in UOL and Google. We improved search around the world, we gave our cities maps, we watched Orkut take over the country and were there to turn off the lights. Our code has chosen many ads to be shown, and nice videos as well, it fought spam and nastier things. We had countless nights without sleep, and even more drinking beer and enjoying friendship. We traveled across the country, visiting universities, free software communities, and meeting all the shining souls we could find here and abroad. We nurtured a generation of brilliant software engineers. We spent many years in Silicon Valley, sipping from its (literal) Smart Water, and getting to know those who built its foundations.

And now, having gone through so many things and knowing we are nothing special, we want to make this unlikely and harsh path we took more feasible for those who dare to try it. We want to finance and support the next generation of entrepreneurs in Brazil and abroad who are willing to build world class high tech companies, and will seize the window of opportunity science is now giving us to transform the world for the better. We value the knowledge built in the benches of grad school and the craft for making real-world tools out of it. We value diversity of thoughts, and unique perspectives.
